Mia Matthiessen

Mia Matthiessen is a Perth-born vocalist with extensive experience in both the Music Theatre and Contemporary world. Her passion for music began in high school as she studied Music Theatre at John Curtin College of the Arts. She then went on to complete her Honours in Contemporary Voice at The West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in 2017, and is now working as a freelance musician.

Mia is an incredibly versatile vocalist with her abilities ranging from the performance of sultry jazz, blues and soul music, to more modern day pop and RnB styles. Mia has had some wonderful performance opportunities over the years, including singing for Prince Charles at his 67th birthday celebrations and performing at the opening of Optus Stadium. She has sung with some incredible Perth bands including Perth Cabaret Collective, The Perth Symphony Orchestra, Slim Jim & the Phatts, Mama Kin, The WAAPA Gospel Choir and Coin Banks to name a few. Recently she joined The Milford Street Shakers, an incredible 11-piece 60s Soul band, as their lead vocalist.
